A move to Cyprus is a question of cubic feet, port charges, customs paperwork and two separate operations at either end of a sea journey. Understanding which of those you can influence is the difference between an expensive move and a sensible one.
Volume — the single biggest factor
International moves are priced on the space your effects occupy, measured in cubic feet. A two-bedroom flat and a five-bedroom house are not two points on a scale; they are different shipping arrangements entirely. This is also the one variable you can genuinely influence: every wardrobe you decide not to take reduces the figure.
Sole-use container or shared load
A sole-use twenty or forty-foot container travels on your schedule and is sealed until it reaches you. A part load shares space with other households and costs a fraction as much, at the price of a slightly less predictable timetable. For anything under about half a household, sharing is almost always the sensible answer.
Collection and delivery locations
A collection from a Manchester suburb with a driveway is a different job from a third-floor Victorian conversion in central Brighton with permit parking, or a farmhouse up a single-track lane.
