What actually determines the cost of your move to Cyprus
We do not publish a price list, and we would rather explain why than leave you guessing. Below is exactly what a Cyprus quotation is built from, in plain terms, along with where the real savings are.
An international removal is not priced like a domestic one. A local move is largely a question of hours and vehicles. A move to Cyprus is a question of cubic feet, port charges, customs paperwork and two separate operations at either end of a sea journey. Understanding which of those you can influence is the difference between an expensive move and a sensible one.
Volume — the single biggest factor
International moves are priced on the space your effects occupy, measured in cubic feet. A two-bedroom flat and a five-bedroom house are not two points on a scale; they are different shipping arrangements entirely. This is also the one variable you can genuinely influence: every wardrobe you decide not to take reduces the figure.
Sole-use container or shared load
A sole-use twenty or forty-foot container travels on your schedule and is sealed until it reaches you. A part load shares space with other households and costs a fraction as much, at the price of a slightly less predictable timetable. For anything under about half a household, sharing is almost always the sensible answer.
Where we collect from, and where we deliver to
A collection from a Manchester suburb with a driveway is a different job from a third-floor Victorian conversion in central Brighton with permit parking, or a farmhouse up a single-track lane. At the Cyprus end, a Limassol apartment is closer to the port than a mountain village in the Troodos, and the last few miles can involve a smaller vehicle.
How much packing you want us to do
A full packing service is the most common choice and the one we would recommend for an export move, because packing that survives a domestic van journey will not necessarily survive several weeks at sea and multiple handling points. You can pack non-fragile items yourself to reduce the cost — we will tell you honestly which items you should not.
Timing and season
Summer is the busy season for Cyprus moves, driven by school terms and the desire to arrive in good weather. Moving in the quieter months usually costs less and gets you more flexibility on dates. If your timetable is genuinely open, say so when we quote and we will tell you where the savings are.
Four ways to reduce the figure
- 1Take less. It sounds obvious, but the arithmetic is stark: shipping a sofa you are lukewarm about can cost more than a better one bought locally.
- 2Share a container if you are not shipping a full household. The saving is substantial and the trade-off is only on timing.
- 3Be flexible on dates if you can. Outside the summer peak there is more capacity and better pricing.
- 4Pack the straightforward items yourself — books, linen, clothing. Leave the china, glass, artwork and anything with a screen to us.
