Moving to Limassol

Cyprus's commercial capital and the arrival point for your container — cosmopolitan, busy and working.

Limassol is where Cyprus goes to work. It is the island's commercial and shipping capital, the home of its international business community, and the port through which practically every container arrives — including yours. The city has changed markedly in the past decade, with a marina, a seafront promenade and a cluster of high-rise towers that have brought a distinctly cosmopolitan energy. It attracts a different mover from Paphos: younger, often still working, frequently in shipping, finance, technology or professional services.

Why British movers choose Limassol

If you need to earn a living in Cyprus rather than draw a pension there, Limassol is where the jobs are. The international business community is concentrated here, the schools are strong, the restaurant and cultural scene is the best on the island, and the seafront has been transformed. The costs reflect that — property and rent are the highest in Cyprus — and the summer in the city is hotter and more humid than on the hills.

The property, and whether your furniture will fit

The range runs from seafront tower apartments through the established suburbs of Germasogeia and Potamos Yermasoyias to villages in the hills behind. Apartment living is far more common here than in Paphos, which has real consequences for a move: lift dimensions, balcony access and loading restrictions frequently determine how a delivery is done. Modern towers are generously proportioned inside but the route in is the constraint.

Everyday life here

Limassol General Hospital plus a substantial private healthcare sector, several international schools following British and other curricula, and the island's best selection of shopping, restaurants and cultural life. The trade-off is traffic, summer humidity, and prices that are simply higher than elsewhere in Cyprus.

Delivering to Limassol

Limassol is the most straightforward delivery in Cyprus for the obvious reason that the container lands here. The inland leg is short and city access is generally good, though the newer high-rise developments require lift bookings and loading bay access to be arranged in advance, and the older streets in the historic centre are narrow. Delivery into the hill villages behind the city, and westwards to Pissouri, involves longer and steeper approaches.
