Moving to Larnaca
The island's main airport city — affordable, flat, walkable and increasingly popular with families.
Larnaca is the practical choice, and it has been quietly gaining on Paphos for years. The island's principal international airport is here, which matters enormously if family will be visiting or if you intend to keep a foot in the UK. The city is flat, walkable and considerably more affordable than Limassol, with a palm-lined seafront, a genuine working centre and a salt lake that fills with flamingos every winter. It feels less like a resort and more like a town where people live.
Why British movers choose Larnaca
Proximity to the airport is the headline advantage — being twenty minutes from departures rather than an hour changes how often you see people. Property is cheaper than Limassol and often than Paphos, the terrain is flat which suits anyone with mobility considerations, and the town has a settled year-round rhythm. The east coast can be windier than the south, and Larnaca lacks the concentrated British social infrastructure of the Paphos villages.
The property, and whether your furniture will fit
A mix of apartments in the city, villas in the surrounding villages, and substantial newer development towards Oroklini and Dhekelia. Prices are lower than Limassol for equivalent space. Flat terrain means fewer of the split-level and external-step complications common in the western hill villages.
Everyday life here
Larnaca General Hospital plus private clinics, a good range of schools including international options, and the full complement of supermarkets and shopping. The airport is genuinely close. Winter is mild, and the salt lake and seafront promenade give the town a pleasant character out of season.
Delivering to Larnaca
Larnaca is roughly forty miles east of Limassol port along good motorway, making the inland leg quick and predictable. The city itself is flat with generally good delivery access, though seafront apartment blocks need lift arrangements. Villages inland and the Oroklini and Pyla areas to the north-east are straightforward compared with the hillside villages of Paphos.
