Pet Transport to Cyprus

For most families the pets are the part of the move that causes the most anxiety, and rightly so — the rules are fiddly and the consequences of getting them wrong are distressing. Cyprus is a straightforward destination if the sequence is followed correctly, but the sequence has hard deadlines built into it, some of which start months before you fly. We arrange the whole thing and, more usefully, we tell you what to start now.
Start with the vet, not with us
The chain begins with a microchip, then a rabies vaccination given after the microchip, then a waiting period, then an animal health certificate issued within a narrow window before travel. Because the vaccination has to follow the microchip and the waiting period follows the vaccination, a pet that is not yet chipped cannot fly for some weeks. This is the single most common reason pet travel plans slip, so speak to your vet as soon as Cyprus is a serious plan.
Crates, comfort and the flight itself
Pets travel in IATA-compliant crates sized so the animal can stand, turn and lie down naturally. We supply the correct crate and encourage you to let your pet sleep in it at home for a fortnight beforehand, because a familiar crate makes a considerable difference on the day. Flights are booked on routes and aircraft that carry animals routinely, and we avoid the hottest part of the day in summer.
Arrival in Cyprus
Your pet is met on arrival, the documentation is presented to the Cypriot authorities, and they are released and delivered to you or to your accommodation. Cyprus does not routinely quarantine correctly documented pets arriving from the UK, which is precisely why the paperwork deserves care.
